Review of The Hamiltons (2006) by Richard B — 02 Aug 2007
Hmm what to say. I like movies that twist your perception of what is happening and deal you out something different at the end, and it was there in front of your eyes the whole time. It gets disappointing though when you see this 'twist' coming from a mile away.
We are led to believe that the Hamiltons are cannibals, but it turns out that they are...wait for it...vampires. Lenny is a letdown, but the twins are great and sadistic (and incestual), and the eldest brother is truly creepy.
Great acting there. But the other characters (including the main one, Francis) just don't cut it. There was a lot of potential there though, and I do like how it was shot. The Butcher brothers have a good eye and were able to bring out some strange performances for the characters, but I felt it fell flat in too many areas.
Engaging, but not great.
