Review of The Gunman (2015) by David P — 20 Mar 2015
Should have been more 'spy games' or 'constant gardener' than 'Bourne' or 'Ronin'. Sean penn is a toned and damaged former killer. There's some real menace in this film but despite the lethal intent there's little depth to the menace.
And the killers sent after Penn are hopeless. There's a reasonable and then unlikely love interest. The political bookends aim to give it some bona fides but seem almost satirical. Overall it might be a fair movie on TV for a night in.
