Review of The Gunman (2015) by Jordan R — 07 Apr 2015
I went to see this movie hoping for decent dose of action and in that sense it mainly delivered. The action scenes are loud, intense, and well filmed. This movie's problem, however, is not the quality of the action, but rather the quantity.
If it had been skillfully written and filled with interesting characters or sneaky plot twists then a ton of action scenes would not have been necessary to keep my attention. Unfortunately the writing in this film is rather weak, so whenever the action let up my heart began to sink as I had to sit through uninspired drama.
If they had not chosen to slow down as much then this film could have been at least a pleasant distraction. As it stands it is just another example of movies trying to be what Taken was and failing.
