Review of The Gunman (2015) by James O — 17 Apr 2015
The Gunman stars Sean Penn with a touch of Javier Bardem and is directed by The GunmanPierre Morel. It tells the story of a sniper, Penn, which after a successful assassination, has to leave the country and his girlfriend, to stay safe. After eight years ofstaying alive and working as a volunteer digging wells, he learns that a hit has been put out on him. He returns to his previous life to track down who wants him dead.
I was really excited to see this movie. Sean Penn, Javier Bardem, what could go wrong?? Well, nothing went wrong, but nothing went right either. To me, this film was one dimensional. There chemistry was poor between the characters. The story was full of holes. And sadly, unlike the trailer, it is just boring.
The one positive take away from this movie.....Sean Penn is in amazing shape. Holy crap! I really need to get back to the gym.
