Review of The Gunman (2015) by Kevin R — 07 Sep 2015
Don't talk to me about condom distribution.
A sniper for the American government is ordered to take out an ambassador from the Congo. Madness ensues and he goes into hiding for the sake of his family. Eight years after the events he regroups with his family to tell them he's dying of a rare disease and that he must right some previous wrongs. He heads into the Congo where a hit squad quickly gets on his tale.
"Of the three shooters, you are the only one left.".
Pierre Morel, director of District B13, Taken, From Paris with Land the upcoming The Killer, delivers The Gunman. The storyline for this picture is kind of bland and straightforward. The action scenes are inconsistent but fairly solid. The cast delivers mediocre performances and includes Sean Penn, Idris Elba, Javier Bardem, and Jasmine Trinca.
"You better wash up.".
I saw the previews for this and thought it was worth picking up from Red Box, I was wrong. The storyline and action was flat and there wasn't much here to keep me enthused to see how this played out. I did see the conclusion, and that didn't change my mind. Overall, this is a disappointing addition to the genre.
"You're way more fucked up than I thought.".
Grade: C-.
