I am a fan of Sean Penn's and after seeing the trailer and hearing that the original "Taken" director, Pierre Morel was directing this movie, I was sold. I went into this expecting this to be the reinvention of Sean Penn as an action hero in the same manner as one Liam Neeson.

Then I saw Idris Elba's name in the opening credits now I am totally on board. Boy, was I sold a bill of goods. This movie is not the movie advertised. It is not good. The first act of this movie really had me invested with all of the polictical stuff going on and it looks like Penn is going to be this deadly marksman and all the wrong people are going to be after him and he will just have to kill them all.

Then the second act happened and the movie just fell apart. The dialogue in this film was horrible, and there wasn't a whole lot of action scenes although the action that was in the film was shot very well.

In a movie called "The Gunman" I expected a gunman with precision and skill as a marksman. One Shot! was all we got, the rest of the movie was just people blindly and rapidly firing and hitting nothing.

The health issue that Penn's character has did nothing to enhance the movie and if you remove it you will still have the same movie. I cared about none of the characters and, the movie was 100% predictable.

Talk about a total waste of talent, Idris Elba is a fantastic actor and really has nothing to do in this movie. To be in the opening credits and only get to see him maybe 2 to 3 times is a rip off. Please don't waste your money, watch this one on cable.
