Review of The Guilt Trip (2012) by Kevin B — 03 May 2013
Seems like a lot of people saw that Rogen was in this and thought it would be a laugh a minute. Thing is this isn't billed as a comedy. If anything it is a light hearted drama. TO call it a Dramedy is a stretch.
While dull at times I don't think it is bad, in fact I think it makes it more realistic. I mean these "expert" critics say it had a poor script, yet I think the script flowed like how real life flows.
No one in real life throws a joke out every 30 seconds, especially on a road trip with their mother. This movie is about mother and son relationships. And as in life it plays on the heart more than the funny bone, as one "expert" here so put it.
To me this film did what it set out to do and did it well. Does that me it is extremely entertaining? Not really, but it was still a solid movie. If you're a son give it to your mother on Mother's Day.
She'll love it.
