Review of The Guilt Trip (2012) by Meecha E — 28 Jan 2013
This film is not going to win any Academy Awards anytime soon. However, not all films have to be high brow to be entertaining. I didn't know much about this movie before walking in. All I know is that I love Barbara Streisand. I think her acting parallels her singing. She has very natural way of expressing a high range of emotion that makes her real and accessible.
In this movie she steals every scene for me. Seth Rogen does his part too but isn't as convincing as an actor. Somewhere between that though, these two actually have good on screen mother/son energy.
I wasn't moved or didn't walk away feeling something new but I didn't stop smiling or laughing and shed a few light tears.
All in all, a nice light hearted story that didn't take itself too seriously.
