Review of The Guilt Trip (2012) by Michael L — 29 Jun 2013
THE GUILT TRIP is a sweet and funny mother/son comedy grounded by the truly great chemistry between Streisand and Rogen. Unlike most "parent" comedies THE GUILT TRIP doesn't take sides or mock either party.
These are real people who don't necessarily understand each other but come to realize how strong their bond is. The first half of THE GUILT TRIP is definitely slow going--the direction is flat and the comedy barely there--but then the film takes off as Streisand overtakes the film and displays what a terrific actress she really is.
So not a perfect film, but a nice night at the movies. Take your mom.
