Surprisingly great little B-horror movie. The plot twists and turns on its own weird logic and you never know where it's headed next. It draws from a lot of different genres - action, horror, sci fi, teen drama, slasher etc.
- and most of the time juggles them all competently. Many of its setpieces are 'inspired' by older movies ('The Stepfather' comes to mind often) but they feel more like a loving homage than a derivative ripoff.
Dan Stevens was terrific and I'll be looking out for his work in the future. And the final scenes were beautifully shot with clever visual references to the dreamlike nonsensical giallo films of the 70s.
Overall this was way better than it needed to be.
