Review of The Guest (2014) by Brandon W — 21 Jan 2015
If people who were disappointed by You're Next saw that Adam Wingard made another film called The Guest and thought that it was going to suck, I thought that too and I didn't trust critics on it after You're Next, it's actually way better than you expect it to be, and is a much better movie than You're Next.
Even though Evan Stevens is really good in A Walk Among the Tombstones, he is amazing in this as he can act really intimidating, and also one of those people that you don't want to mess with. The supporting cast are great too, the soundtrack is sweet, kind of reminds me of Hotline Miami, and it's really smart.
Even though You're Next did have smart moments, it didn't succeed that much in humor like The Guest did which really made me feel bad, but was really funny. It keeps you guessing about what's going to happen next, the action is really great, and there's never a dull moment in there.
It didn't necessarily answer some questions I had with the plot, but I felt like it's up for interpretation which I was ok with. The Guest is a lot of fun that left me so entertained.
