Review of The Guest (2014) by Eliza S — 13 Aug 2015
Entertaining but nonsensical. I went into this movie knowing nothing about it, which helped by stripping away any expectations, because they would have been dashed anyway. It wasn't quite a thriller nor a comedy, but had enough elements of both to be enjoyable.
I wish they would have explained more about David's "neurological condition," and why exactly he spent half the movie charming every character--and the audience--only to kill most of them, never losing that sweet, old-fashioned Southern accent of his.
But, its plot holes and utter disregard for logic, along with its no doubt intentionally dated branding, gave it the feel of an old-fashioned indie thriller flick, and I enjoyed it.
