Mixed feelings here but ultimately, will have to say the audience (69%) was a whole lot more honest than the RT critics (90%) on this one. I'm not familiar with the directors but I'm 100% sure they were fans of New Order and Depeche Mode some 25-30 years ago - and so was I.
In fact I want to check out the soundtrack. From the script to the plot, this movie screams stylistic 80s. But a film that would have been perfectly enjoyable during that time period is simply a bit too.
..corny in 2014. Kind of like the dark side of a John Hughes film. The best thing I could probably say is at least it didn't try to be anything more than what it was - mindless, predictable fun. But to rate in the 90s?? No.
Not even 80s.
