Review of The Guardian (2006) by Steve S — 31 Jul 2009
A swaggering neon lit clich©. Costner is likeable and ballsy, a suitable couterpoint to Kutcher being an unlikeable bragging moron (which he's meant to be, perfect role for him I suppose).
Tries to do what Top Gun did for the US Navy (or Wings of the Apache for the US Army) but this is for the slightly duller US Coast guard. I have to give it to them, it does make me appreciate them more, but not much else. Its entertaining and typical, Kutcher is trained up and it shows how tough they have to be etc, pretty enjoyable I thought.
