The Guardian is an exhilarating and very underrated movie. I still don't understand the critical reviews with the most common criticism being that "it's just a poor man's version of an Officer and a Gentleman". Yes, it's cliched and at some times it is predictable. What saves the film for me is the strong performances from the cast. Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher both give solid performances. I also thought the rescue scenes were well done and the visuals were nice. Definitely a great tribute to the Coast Guard for sure.
