Review of The Guard (2011) by Andrew W — 15 Jan 2012
Whilst a well trodden formula of the local hick turning out to be smarter than expected, this is non-the-less well executed. Brendan Gleeson transposes his "In Bruges" character to local enforcement in Ireland.
Drugs are being shipped in by drug-runners and there are bodies and corruption along the way. Teamed up with visiting FBI agent who initially appears a cultural mismatch, respect and resolution soon follow.
Engaging and enjoyable.
