Review of The Guard (2011) by John D — 10 Feb 2012
I won't call it great, but The Guard is great fun, in it's own twisted way. Brendan Gleeson is endlessly watchable. All the film's little touches bring home the 'less is more' ideology, adding without too much time or dialogue great impact, scene by scene.
Rather than an out and out cop drama riddled with as many bullets as action scenes, the weirdest sort of a slice of life story. Simply well done.
