Review of The Guard (2011) by Michael S — 01 Apr 2012
I went to see this without seeing any trailers for it, all I knew was that it had Don Cheadle and the awesome Brendan Gleeson in it. Well I must say that it was my biggest surprise of 2011 and easily my favorite comedy in quite some time.
Gleeson gives one hell of a performance as Gerry Boyle a cop that truly does not give a F**k about anything other than drinking whoring and not following his orders. From beginning to end he keeps his character from ever growing stale and while the story isn't anything new or crazy all the performances and the writing elevate this movie to greater heights.
