Review of The Guard (2011) by Ryan P — 25 Aug 2012
There's a cliche movie scene where the antagonist has the protagonist cornered, and can dispose of him quite easily, but instead they begin to talk (usually while giving the hero precious useful information), and the good guy then either talks his way out of harm's way, or he distracts the bad guy long enough to attack him.
Remember Goldfinger? The Guard has such a scene -- which was the only disappointment I had with the film. It's the sort of thing I don't like seeing in really good movies like this one. The dialogue, music, acting and direction reminded me of a lesser Tarantino movie.
This one has style. Check it out.
