Review of The Guard (2011) by Richard D — 04 May 2014
(58%).
It's a decent picture, but those expecting a "In Bruges" beater will be disappointed. The writing is filled with Irish charm, although I doubt anyone besides a native will fully understand everything that's said. There's some good Father Ted style humour floating around, and Gleason plays a foul-mouthed rouge cop very well, and even though the plot is very average with an overblown ending that doesn't fit in with the rest of the movie, this is still a worthy, funny watch.
