Review of The Guard (2011) by Jacob W — 25 May 2015
John Michael McDonagh can't seem to decide if he wants to make a profane odd couple cop movie or a far more complex and intelligent character study. Luckily he has Brendan Gleeson who delivers a funny, but realistic performance.
And, while this movie follows an all too familiar formula, it does lead us to some unexpected places.
