Review of The Guard (2011) by Dan S — 26 Jul 2013
A wryly amusing take on the mismatched buddy cop genre. Brendan Gleeson is cooly laid back as Sergeant Boyle, a cop who takes his time and isnt above slipping a E from a teenage road kill or booking a couple of Dublin hookers for an afternoon. He's soon embroiled in a drug smuggling ring and is forced to work with Don Cheadle's FBI supremo. What follows is a funny, touching bromance as they come to understand each other with a conversation as peppered with F words as it is with one liners.
A very Irish and enjoyable movie.
