It ain't great. While there are many call backs to the original film, and the ending is great in my opinion, the jump scares are cheap, the plot is inconsistent with many holes, and The Grudge itself really isn't The Grudge we have all come to know.
It deviates too much from the original in trying to create something new and thus comes off as generic. The actors are fantastic and the film definitely has some strong points, but overall a sub par experience that lacks what made the original movies so amazing in the first place.
