Maybe I'm just a scaredy cat, but this adaptation from a Japanese horror film scared the bejesus outta me. Invisible ghosts that can hide in th shadows, a boy who meows, bathtubs unsafe for occupation.
I spent a large amount of my high school years with the lights on thank you very much.
