The culture spin is refreshing, and the execution behind the film is brave, but the final result doesn't hold much. if you find pale faces and obnoxious sounds scary, it might do something for you, otherwise it's annoying.
The plot is messy and sometimes hard to follow. Plus there's the sad fact that the only reason this movie was made was because most Americans wouldn't bother with the original version.
