Review of The Grudge 2 (2006) by Andrew D — 17 Feb 2013
I remember seeing The Grudge a year or two ago and found it a decent little horror flick. It wasn't very terrifying, but I was able to enjoy it. This sequel however is one of the worst horror films I've seen in my life.
I wish that I could give a plot summary, but the plot is so damn confusing that it's hard to pinpoint what's happening in the so-called "story." All that can really be said is that the film shows three different segments in no particular order about three groups of people that are haunted by the evil Japanese spirit.
The first segment follows the sister of the protagonist from the first film, which was an okay segment since there were a couple of creepy images. However, the acting was pretty poor and the pacing was off the map.
The second segment follows a group of school girls who are being haunted by the spirit after taking a trip to the house. This segment was REALLY annoying. The acting was beyond bad as all three of the school girls sounded like they were just reading their lines rather than actually trying to put a performance into the work.
I wanted to punch each one of them in the face, had it not been for the spirit taking care of them. The final segment follows a new family who has moved into a new apartment. However, once their neighbors return with their shaking daughter, the spirit starts to haunt the place.
This was just beyond confusing. I had to look up the plot on Wikipedia afterwards to understand what was really going on. Overall, skip this dreck. There's nothing in the film that's even remotely entertaining (with the exception of seeing the bad actors killed off).
