Review of The Groove Tube (1974) by Matt A — 28 Aug 2008

This was insane. Ridiculous. I really liked how while it was fast paced in terms of switching from one skit to another yet there were lots of long shots and extended segments where not much happens for awkward uncomfortable humor.

I always love that kind of thing and you never see it too much. While some of this was dated (though that was part of the charm for me) a lot held up, and bad versions of some of these skits are the type of thing you see on Mad TV and other lame shows of its time today.

Comedy doesn't age that much. Hell - this certainly wouldn't get an R rating today. I doubt even an unrated version would cover that close-up talking penis. And the cooking segment! This is a perfect late night movie.

Being a little tired makes this even more over the top.
