Review of The Groomsmen (2006) by Sir Great Dane D — 01 Dec 2006
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I rented it last night and the only reasons I rented it was one because Matthew Lillard was in it and two because Edward Burns wrote, directed, and starred in it. I always like watching movies that an actor does it all in. I can appreciate the work that it takes to do that.
I was a little afraid about watching it to due to the fact that I figured it was a chick flick. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of chick flicks that I like if they aren't to girly. :P Anyways, this really wasn't all that much of a chick flick. It's one of those in between movies that could be classified differently depending on who you are.
Matthew Lillard was a lot different in this movie then most of his other ones. He wasn't really all that funny or childish like he normally is. He was actually giving a lot of good advice in this movie. It was fun to watch him acting in this movie because it was so different. Jay Mohr was the comedy relief in this movie. He was pretty funny in it and did a good job playing the immature 30 year old. Edward Burns did his typical good job. He is one of those actors you don't think about too much but he always does a good job in the movies he makes. I didn't really care for Brittany Murphy's acting but then again I haven't liked her acting in anything.
Anyways, this is a good movie that I think anyone can enjoy, man or woman. It's a good date movie for one of those nights of laying around with your lover, cuddling and watching movies.
