Once more into the fray. Into the last good fight Ill ever know. Live and die on this day. Live and die on this day--- Thats a quote from Ottway, played by Liam Neeson in the movie The Grey. What's not so grey about this movie is that it is grey-t! I had to do it. I apologize.

Lame jokes aside, this one is a nail-biter. For those of you who dont know what this movie is about, Liam plays a wolf-sniper, a kind of game hunter that protects his buddies while theyre working on the Alaskan pipeline. Before you go all PETA on me, know that these are devilish, evil wolves who (apparently) crave human flesh. Realistic? I think not. But this movie is not about realism. It is about the Call of the Wild, the thrill of the hunt. Only its the humans who are being hunted.

You've seen movies like this before. Think Jaws or The Ghost and the Darkness, or even Jurassic Park. Does this movie deserve to be put on a pedestal with these 3 classics? Welll...almost.

The 1st hour is incredible. Liam and his oil-pipeline buddies are on a plane ride to their next destination. A company ride that goes from slightly turbulent, to hell on wings batsh*t crazy! This is one movie they will NEVER show on flights and for good reason. The plane crashes (I'm not giving much away- this happens within the 1st ten minutes) and in true Alive-style, not everyone survives. But before they can start eating each other for food, something else is craving man-flesh even more.

I wont give too much else away, but suffice to say, the wolves are as hungry as a pack of...well, wolves. Ravenous, diabolical, snarling, scary as all-fu*k wolves. I have been informed that this movie is far from realistic in its portrayal of these rabid animals, but I'm sure you won't care, because you WILL be on the edge of your seat as they hunt this pack of men who are stranded in the below-freezing mountains in the middle of nowhere.

The second hour slows down just a bit, and becomes a bit predictable, but that doesnt mean its not great entertainment. In fact, there's one scene on a tether rope that will make anybody with vertigo (including myself) a little bit woozy.

So leave your brain at the door, and dont watch this one with the lights out. The gleaming eyes of the ravenous wolf-pack will get to ya if nothing else will. This is one to watch on a night-in with your lovie. Lone wolves have been forewarned. I give this one an 8 out of 10. Highly Recommended!
