Review of The Grey (2012) by Hector T — 02 Dec 2013
From the first time I saw Liam Neeson perform in Schindler's List, I found his acting to be rugged, charismatic and authentic. It is only fitting that he excelled in this film, The Grey, can be debated as one of his best performances yet.
The story of The Grey is simple, a group of oil -rig workers crash in the middle of the artic in Alaska; which just happens to be within the territorial borders of a mercyless pack of wolves. It is up to Ottoway (LIam) and the other survivors that include Ã, Diaz (Frank Grillo) who played his role flawlessly, (Dermut Mulroney) amongst others, not only stay alive but to somehow evade the ravenous beasts that are-the wolves.
This film may immediately remind you of the previous motion picture Alive, though The Grey is fictional and the surviving oil riggers did not have to resort to cannibalism. The Grey tells the story through the eyes of the crash survivors, all of which have their faith, reality, courage and resolve constantly challenged.
My personal rating is a strong A due in large to fluid acting, authentic scenery and the subliminal message that we all, no matter what circumstance, always have a choice.
