Review of The Grey (2012) by Fritz F — 19 Jun 2014
Once more into the fray.
Into the last good fight I'll ever know.
Live and die on this day.
Live and die on this day.
Apperently this is one of the worst movies depicting Alaska, but whether or not that's true, it's a amazing movie. A plane crash in the middle of nowhere starts this movie off, and for the rest of it a small group of survivors tries desperately to defend themselves against a pack of aggressive wolves. The movie does a great job of keeping you on edge, with some jump scares and sounds in the darkness. Often you see an attack coming, and often you think you do but it doesn't happen. Liam Nesson does a great job throughout the film, and is the wilderness expert that keeps the group alive. The wolves however slowly pick them off, and forces everyone to the breaking point. The begining was good, and the ending was great, with a little bit of a twist. I don have some questions about the film however, like how did Ottway fall out of the plane when he had three seatbelt a straps around him, how he didn't freeze after falling in a river, and how could they keep up pace with the wolves in the deep snow? The wolves themselves look good, although the alpha male looks a little fake. But other wise it was a great movie, better and less gory than I expected, and had a great ending. Wish it hadn't taken me so long to finally watch it.
