Review of The Grey (2012) by Richard S — 03 Aug 2014
A difficult film to rate - if the wolves are taken to be supernatural or metaphorical then the film works very well and is solidly shot, suitably unpleasant and reasonably interesting with surprisingly decent characters.
However if the wolves are supposed to be animals then this film represents a shocking character assassination piece as they act like insane revenge fuelled monsters, do massively unrealistic things and are twice their actual size.
Since most movies goers will probably believe that wolves might act like this it leaves the film in very poor taste. I feel they should probably have provided an epilogue highlighting that wolves really aren't at all like this! Because of that I'd recommend The Edge or White Fang over this.
