Review of The Grey (2012) by Ryan H — 14 Sep 2014

I've watched the Grey multiple times and I always get the same reaction and enjoyment out of it that I got the first time that I watched it. Liam Neeson the lead actor in the movie plays a man named Ottway who finds himself and a group of other survivors stranded in the freezing Alaskan terrain after their plane suddenly crashes. These men are make their journey to safety while not only dealing with the freezing temperatures but also a pack of dangerous wolves threatening their safety.

The director Joe Carnahan who is also the director of the A-Team did a great job portraying the movie in a way where it really felt like you were there. In the movie the simplest details are shown in such a way where you barely realise that it is there, for instance the breath of all the actors in the cold weather is shown many times throughout the movie along with other small things that just really make it feel realistic and bring you into each scene. Some argue that the director does a poor job getting the movie going, and on the flip side the beginning of the movie is slightly dry but the beginning of the movies goal is to introduce you to the setting and characters so that the audience can follow the whole story once the action begins taking place.

Liam Neeson is a very valuable character that plays in this movie, it is a perfect match for him to play his character Ottway. He really drives the movie beyond it?s limits, between his voice overs and action shots during the whole movie I really feel like he contributed a lot of success to The Grey. I truly believe anyone who goes and watched or buys this movie while appreciate the effort put into the detail and story of the entire thing. The Grey is a great action movie and I highly encourage anyone to go watch it.
