Review of The Grey (2012) by Jack W — 02 Jan 2015
Because the horror genre has been bastardized into its current weakened state when a remarkable film comes along with many genre traits it often gets missed. THE GREY was just such a film, labeled an action film but truly a horror film, in my opinion.
Actually a horror/disaster film; it had monsters, definite low key expressionist lighting, a disaster (obviously), a man v monster theme and excellent sound design being used to heighten the action. I really liked this film a lot and my only wish is that they would have done a JAWS-esque treatment of the wolves.
Would've made it that much creepier.
