Review of The Grey (2012) by George M — 22 Aug 2015
A VERY tough survival movie, not for the faint of heart. This movie reminds us of how cruel nature can be as a group of people trapped in the middle of nowhere trying not only to deal with the cold but also with a pack of wolves.
This is a very intense, very tough, very suspenseful movie and I was very nervous at the entire movie like I was inside the group. This movie had my attention from start to finish. The element of danger is more than ever here and no one is safe as the group was eaten by the wolves one by one.
The action is great and the stakes are high as these people push their selves to the extreme. The movie has ups and downs ofcourse. I can say I found the tone of the movie a bit of over-dramatic and depressing, I expected the tone to be dramatic because it's a survival movie but not SO dramatic.
The characters here didin't have enough personality except Liam's, they were just irrelevant ordinary people, the wolves I think they were a bit of unrealistic, yes the wolves are hunters but they don't hunt their pray after it leaves their area, for example the group had left wolves area before the end of the movie but still the wolves chasing them.
..what was the reason again ? and finally the ending dissapoint me because we never found out what happened to Ottway, he was killed ? he survived ? both Ottway and the wolf died ? Closing I can say that this is a great intense survival thriller that will keep you at the edge of your seat !!!!
