Review of The Green Mile (1999) by Chris M — 05 Jan 2013
After making an impressive directorial debut with The Shawshank Redemption, Frank Darabont's second feature is another adaptation of a prison novel by Stephen King. This time, we follow John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), a man wrongly convicted of murdering two girls and sentenced to death at Cold Mountain Penitentiary.
Soon enough though, the guards discover that John might not only be innocent, but they also discover that he has magical healing powers. One might complain that it is too long and the fantasy element of the story is hard to believe, but that does not stop The Green Mile from being just as strong, emotional and spirit-lifting as The Shawshank Redemption.
