Review of The Green Knight (2021) by Danny1234567 — 07 Aug 2021
I was expecting excellent cinematography that revolved around a plot that carries the main character through adversity across a world full of mythical creatures and spirits. What I received was excellent cinematography and a series of irrelevant events.
I constantly had to ask myself what I was watching but there was never a real answer. The world has so much potential, opportunities for plot and development, but there is none. It was somehow far more important to include a three-minute scene of the protagonist riding a horse at a walking pace than to create a scene throwing the viewer a bone regarding the direction of the seemingly nonexistent plot.
I suppose this scene was the queue to get up and leave. It's like spending two hours on a one-hundred-piece jigsaw puzzle that has fifty missing pieces just because it's a copy of the Mona Lisa. The most exciting piece of the movie took place on (literally) fast-forward.
There are dozens of movies that provide more immersive environments and equally profound cinematography while maintaining incredible plots. The Green Knight falls far below the mark.
