Review of The Green Inferno (2013) by Prentice S — 24 Sep 2015
"The Green Inferno" is just another Eli Roth gore-fest, but it fails to really even hit the marks that the "Hostel" series has done. Roth is an expert at gore- the story doesn't normally matter that much.
Here, the back-story matters TOO much- they spend nearly half the movie in the U.S., before even getting to the Amazon, where unknowingly, many of them will die. The gore was solid- it was on par with anything else in Roth's repertoire.
But it felt like two movies: one, a really poorly written story about a group of idiot college students that rush into the jungle to save it and a then a pretty decent slaughterhouse story that takes place in the Amazon.
Not Roth's best, but it was worth seeing.
