Review of The Green Inferno (2013) by Noah D — 28 Sep 2015
Having waited to see this film for 2 YEARS NOW, I was ecstatic for Eli Roth's return to the big screen and I really was not disappointed! The Green Inferno is a greatly horrific experience and I mean that in a good way! Not only was this film shot effectively, but it delivered brutal thrills I never thought I'd see on the big screen! Let me say this, if you're of the squeamish kind, this is possibly the worst film you could subject yourself to! I've seen my fair share of horror films, sat through all the goriest films of their kind and I'm here to tell you, The Green Inferno ranks amongst the goriest films I've had the pleasure to experience! This film really is that, an EXPERIENCE! Eli Roth gives his most impressive work behind the camera to date.
The make-up and gore effects are top-rate, and the cinematography is gorgeous at times. Now let me talk about the acting.... Some actors here are good, including star Lorenza Izzo as well as Daryl Sabrara and Kirby Bliss Blanton.
The other actors including singer (DEFINATELY not actress) Sky Fereira, Ariel Levy, and more range from mediocre to poor to HOLY HELL SHE SUCKS! One could simply say "well, it's a horror movie what do you expect?" Thats not an excuse.
The horror genre has proved again and again that they have actors that give incredible performances! And some of the visual effects stick out poorly. With those negatives aside, The Green Inferno proved to be a truly nasty, gritty, and gnarly thrill-ride that should please horror junkies, Eli Roth fans, and gore hounds alike with skilled directing, first-rate practical effects work, and truly gruesome spectacle! 3.
9 out of 5 stars.
