Review of The Green Inferno (2013) by Angie R — 09 Aug 2016
SPOILERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Green Inferno....I watched this because someone said it was more disgusting than the human centipede.
The beginning is just simply awful. Like first, who acts like that in college? just really bad acting and unnecessary conversations. When they get to peru, why are they hurrying through the crowd to the boats as if in danger? Do they not understand how to walk through a crowd? I know it is a different country, but I am pretty sure it isn't that hard to walk. These college children act like they have never gone 5 miles outside of where they were born. How are they even in college? And....why the heck do we need to see part of someone's genitalia? I am all for it, if it adds to the point of the film, but it is just stupid here. Not necessary. The whole premise of their "activism" is just fucking stupid. Like first off, there are MANY ways to bring awareness to problems....and their plan is just fucking stupid. And the "leader" is such a manipulative asshole. I fucking hate whoever wrote these characters. Please dear god, find a new job. The script is so poorly written I can not suspend my disbelief. I could believe a talking animal easier than I could believe this scenario of extreme, genuine stupidity. This movie is so bad it made me sober! The only good part was when they started to die. His girlfriend gets impaled through the neck and instead of sobbing with grief all he can do is somewhat apathetically yell No!
The human centipede is way more disgusting, and more artful in my opinion. The conspiracy theories that are thrown in? Please. Unless an audience asks to hear about how you think the government planned 9/11....then NO ONE wants to hear it. Not in a movie about fucking cannibals. There is only one thing I expect from a movie about cannibals: PEOPLE GET EATEN.
Other awful points: "I'm vegan.".
The jacking off.
Thinking the tribe will get high because they stuffed pot down the girl's throat.
The asshole "leader" of the group--who wrote his character? He is a mean, asshole hipster who thinks he is better than everyone. Fuck him.
The girl can't swim.
