Review of The Green Hornet (2011) by Perry C — 07 Jun 2013
The cars are cool. Outside of that not much worked. Seth Rogan's acting sucks. The fighting with strings and bullet time and car chases with cg and miniatures look really distractingly fake. Cameron diaz hasn't been hot since 1994.
Christoph waltz is horribly miscast and...idk I just don't think the story is that great. Rich boy becomes a superhero out of boredom. Him and his partner fight over a girl. There is a goofy idiot drug lord in the peripherals after the green hornet.
When I compare this whole drug syndicate to something like breaking bad when Walter goes after crazy 8 and then tuco and then Gustavo, this just comes off as garbage. On top of the story not being realistic nor compelling, it's also just not funny.
I'm not sure if this is a case of trying to fit into too many genres or if it's because it can't meet the requirements for any of them. Normally that happens when they try to force an R rated script into a pg13 package, but in this case it was just the opposite, which is incredibly stupid.
