Review of The Green Hornet (2011) by Maxwell S — 09 Jan 2012
Prolific writer and star of buddy-comedy-action movies takes the story of a relatively unknown superhero and unsurprisingly turns it into a buddy-comedy-action tale. With typical 'witty' dialogue, 'bromance' between male leads plus action that veers between brutal and slapstick there's not much to be said about this that can't be said about any other Rogan flick.
If you liked his previous work you'll like this. If not, you probably won't. Personally I grew increasingly frustrated that they hadn't played it as a straight action/superhero film because if you took the shoot-outs and car chases but cut out the comedy dialogue that accompanies them it would be a lot more watchable.
Now, I don't know much (if anything) about 'The Green Hornet' in his pre 'Roganisation' forms but I'm figuring that any fans of his out there will regard this treatment as blasphemy.
The 3D element was the biggest joke in the whole thing as it quickly became apparent that no scenes had been filmed to utilise 3D technology. Instead it had been post rendered into 3D to jump on the band waggon and allow cinemas to charge extra for admission (even if you have an unlimited card!).
