Review of The Green Hornet (2011) by Miles L — 13 Jan 2012
People said The Green Hornet was an action comedy but I couldn't find anything funny about it.
All I saw was a tantrum throwing egotistical misogynist prick played by Seth Rogen who spends most of the movie screaming at everyone, beating up people for the hell of it, and smashing things up. If I wanted to put up with that for a couple of hours I could've gone back to my home town and hung out with the local gang. At least they would've shouted me a few beers and something to eat.
The Green Hornet gives super hero movies a bad name. There's no character development, the super villain is just a generic sadist, the sidekick is a wimp and Cameron Diaz seems to have been brought in purely to be the butt of Seth Rogen's so-called "comedy" and a cute piece of ass for the male audience to perve at.
I don't expect the modern super hero movie to be morality plays but I expect both super hero and villain to undergo some sort of character development along the way. Also I expect the villains to have a few good elements about them so they provide a very real challenge to the super hero. In The Green Hornet it was basically two equally repulsive people trying to knock the other off.
At my age time is short and this movie took away just over two precious hours I could've spent watching spiders on the ceiling.
