Review of The Green Hornet (2011) by Josh K — 21 Dec 2013
There were high hopes for this movie, but in the end it just turned out to be another bad movie. Based on the well known TV Show from the 1960s, this film is envisioned more in the mode of an action-comedy which doesn't really suit well.
Seth Rogen depicts Britt Reid, the son of a media magnate. After his father dies, Britt takes over the empire and decides to become a superhero known as the Green Hornet. Jay Chou depicts Kato, Britt's servant who assists him in fighting crime.
Rogen steals the entire film, ruining it entirely having Britt become more of an idiot who seems to not really care about his position. Christoph Waltz, fresh off of winning his Oscar for Inglourious Basterds, is amazing as the main villain, although he isn't given much to do in the film, while Cameron Diaz isn't much to do either and seems to also not really have any importance to the film's plot.
In the end, the film is a major bore and is really terrible, while the blend of action and comedy doesn't work well. It really seems that this film shouldn't have been made in the first place.
