:rotten: The Greatest Story ever Told is not the most boring story ever told but neither is great, it is a failure because it is bad edited (it has very big scenes of insignificant moments and some passages I'd like to watch they didn't make in the cut, the film is lack of miracles and the lack of parables... Let's remember Jesus is followed and venerated not only for his phylosophy but also for his miracles. An uncharismatic Jesus didn't help the film, many scenes are inventions and the order of the events are disorganized, maybe Stevens and Barrett thought spectators were ignorant and they didn't know anything about the Bible. Charlton Heston as John the Baptist looks like a prehistoric man and barbarian and the rest of the cast are also miscasted, many scenes provoke involuntary laughings and some places don't seem to be a Judean region. What I like of this film was the score, the costume design, some scenes where the dialogs are strong and the events are not changed. The film has many historical errors and history looks incomplete. Mediocre film and Stevens had a sad way to end his career..
