Do not underestimate the power of great music and the ability it has to elevate a movie and this is no exception. The music is catchy and the characters likeable which overshadows what is a somewhat shallow depiction of the history of the circus.
It succeeds similarly to Mamma Mia in that it does not need to be a complex narrative but rather one that brings joy and lifts the spirits of the audience.
