The Greatest Show on Earth? Most certainly not. The film is entertaining and an eye candy spectacle, but the plot feels hallow and lacks any real tension or urgency. It's solid old school Hollywood entertaininment and nothing more.
The fact that it actually won Best Picture in 1952 was surprising considering HIGH NOON was a much better film. I don't recommend this film, but it's not bad enough to totally discourage either.
