Review of The Greatest Show on Earth (1952) by Eliza D — 04 Jan 2008
I watched this film solely because of Jimmy Stewart. He was actually the only interesting character - the clown with a shady past who never removes his clown makeup. The film was very dull, and totally lacking in the storyline area, until the last 25 minutes or so.
But even then it was only moderately interesting. Visually stunning...if you like the circus, which I personally don't. Cecil B DeMille was great and all, but this certainly isn't his best. Though maybe I just didn't like it because I detest Charlton Heston.
