Review of The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005) by Monty H — 17 Dec 2012
Inspiring drama about a young kid who shocks the world by playing in golf's US Open in 1913 against the best golfer in the world. Shia LaBeouf is Francis, the 20 year old amateur who does the impossible. Based on a true story, this underdog tale is very well done with a truly amazing storyline and a great cast of characters. The innovative camera shots staged by director Bill Paxton are awesome. One of the best films you will ever see. You don't have to be a golf fan to appreciate this story but it does make it even better. Compare it to a young kid today coming from nowhere and playing against Tiger Woods, and matching him shot for shot. Great stuff.
Ted Ray: "Morning, Harry. Dreadful English weather.".
Harry Vardon: "How'd you sleep?".
Ted Ray: "Like a baby. Woke up every two hours and cried".
