Review of The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005) by Terry W — 25 Mar 2012
Paxton's "The Greatest Game Ever Played" was an exceptional film for golfers, sports fanatics, sports historians, and anyone looking for an inspirational tale of an American kid over-coming his bouts of adversity to become the youngest amateur to ever win the United States Open Championship, a record still held today.
Though the physical characteristics of one of the players (Harry Vardon) was not quite accurate and the location wasn't in Brookline, Massachusetts, the golf equipment, costume and set design used helped to reestablish that honor to the past and story of Francis Ouimet.
Definitely one of my favorite films.
